Night baseball

[edit]

I am skeptical of the first History paragraph referencing the night baseball. The referenced article does not specify the location, and I was always told it was actually at the General Electric Athletic Association Field, located in West Lynn closer to the GE facilities. These articles and others corroborate that... https://bevisbaseballresearch.wordpress.com/research-archive/night-baseball-adoption-in-new-england-1927-to-1947/ https://www.manufacturing.net/home/news/13093358/if-you-light-it-they-will-come-you-will-never-believe-who-invented-night-baseball The only reference to it being at the future location of Fraser Field is this Wikipedia article. I believe the paragraph should be deleted, and would not affect the rest of the article. Doconeill (talk) 14:00, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Concur. Your references reinforce the notion that it was elsewhere and this article's reference doesn't deny it. If the paragraph remains, it would need the existing disclaimer that it wasn't really the first-ever night game; plus new ones that it wasn't really Fraser Field (yet), and the event wasn't anywhere near. What's left has nothing to do with Fraser Field. By the way, the current tenant's 2022 Media Guide has two pages on the ballpark's history, but their narrative starts in 1940.
