Loss of Seat in 1918

I note Jowett is counted among the several Labour MPs who, having resisted the First World War, "lost their seats" in the 1918 General Election. This is misleading if we understand the phrase to mean they were defeated at the election, as the succession table (foot of page) indicates the Bradford West constituency was abolished and no MP from a rival party was elected to succeed him. Did he contest another seat at the 1918 election but fail to be elected there (in which case this would not be a loss of seat but a failure to take a seat)?Cloptonson (talk) 09:33, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
