Archive
[edit]Just a suggestion but I think just as a "safety precaution", maybe we should start archiving the refs just so they don't go dead and then fall in a situation where wayback machine hasn't gone through them. This would also make life easier (for specifically Astros) when nominating the article to GA and possibly FA.--Dom497 (talk) 21:03, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'd support that idea.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 21:45, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- How do I do that?-- Astros4477 (Talk) 16:14, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- If they are not already archived through wayback machine, the only other way that I know of is doing it the painful, manual way through Webcite (click on the archive tab). I can help out if ya want ;) .--Dom497 (talk) 16:20, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'd really appreciate it!-- Astros4477 (Talk) 16:32, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Just so we don't get caught up with archiving the same things, you start from the last ref and work your way up and I'll start from the top.--Dom497 (talk) 16:35, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- I will post any errors I come up with while archiving refs here:
- Ref 2 will not archive do to its complexity.
--Dom497 (talk) 16:34, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- To save you the time, you don't have to add the archive links if they're in the wayback machine. Those will always be there so you don't have to do that now :). We could always add those if and when the link goes dead.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 16:49, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Well, for some reason WKYC has been banned from Wayback so that has to be done manually. Also, these links are so new wayback hasn't even gone through them yet. I'm also not archiving pointbuzz because I think its safe to say that they will always be there unless the site shutsdown (knock on wood).--Dom497 (talk) 16:53, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Well from what I've seen, WKYC links never go dead so those are safe.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 17:08, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Dom are you going to continue the archiving? There's a barnstar coming your way... ;)-- Astros4477 (Talk) 02:12, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm getting busy with school which is why I stopped (since it takes some work/time). I'll try to get going again soon. :) --Dom497 (talk) 18:35, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
- Just a quick update....I'm still working on it....got a seminar (hence why I'm on a wikibreak). Hope on starting again sometime after Tuesday of next week.--Dom497 (talk) 00:51, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Testing date
[edit]Hey guys! I added the date that testing started (today). It needs improvement, I'd like you to make it read more smoothly. Roller Coaster Rider (Jonathan) (talk) 22:35, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Done-- Astros4477 (Talk) 13:40, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
First Rider Auction
[edit]We need to put something in about the first rider auction. Here's a source: https://www.cedarpoint.com/carouselsforkids/gatek Roller Coaster Rider (Jonathan) (talk) 13:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- There's information about it in the same paragraph as the testing.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 14:53, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Infobox image
[edit]Why don't we add a photo of GateKeeper to the infobox such as: https://twitter.com/TonyClarkCP/status/330712053251710977/photo/1 Roller Coaster Rider (Jonathan) (talk) 20:11, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps Astros can go into more detail but images must be freely-licensed to be used on Wikipedia.--Dom497 (talk) 21:00, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Here's a nice graphical summary of the licensing rules for Wikipedia. I doubt there will be any images that meet these criteria until the ride/park opens in a couple of days. Themeparkgc Talk 07:46, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'll look into getting images. Cedar Point usually posts pictures on Flickr so I'll get in contact with them no see if they will release them.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 02:06, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Comments
- "Sandusky, Ohio" why not just leave the pure wikilink to Sandusky, Ohio?
- Done.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 18:50, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Lead para has a few choppy very short sentences, consider merging a couple to improve the flow.
- Fixed.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:20, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Again, as always in these articles, find links for jargon link "inversions".
- What do you mean?-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:15, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Where you use jargon terms like "inversions", try to find suitable wikilinks so non-expert readers like me can understand exactly what is meant. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:03, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- There's no other links than you can replace Inversion with. Atleast I couldn't find any.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 01:30, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

- "The new ride replaced" you mean "Gatekeeper replaced...
- Fixed.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:14, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- "and raised Cedar Point's quantity of roller coasters to 16." how? They demolished one roller coaster and a gyro tower, and built one roller coaster.
- Slightly reworded.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 18:58, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Order of lead is odd too, you mention the start of construction 2/3 of the way through the second sentence, surely this should be earlier?
- Fixed.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:00, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- "$25,000,000 - $30,000,000[1]" en-dash to separate the numbers, could you use m as million instead of all those zeros?
- Done.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:13, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- What or who or where is Erie?
- Which Erie are you talking about? Lake Erie and Erie County are both mentioned in the article.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 18:51, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Both then! The Rambling Man (talk) 09:03, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Well Lake Erie was already linked and I linked Erie County.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 01:33, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

- "US$25 million" compare this to the format in the infobox... Consistency here would be good.
- Done.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:13, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Stop saying "the new roller coaster" each para and reiterate "GateKeeper".
- Done.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:09, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- "The park had to do hundreds" -> "had to do" is yuck prose. Maybe "Hundreds of tests were conducted..."?
- Fixed.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:06, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- Image captions which aren't complete sentences don't need a period.
- Fixed.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:02, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- "About 12,000,000 pounds" again, why not "12 million"?
- I'm not sure how to change that when using the convert template.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 19:04, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
- {{convert}} has instructions on how to use parameters such as e6 to reduce down to "millions" rather than "000,000"... The Rambling Man (talk) 09:03, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

100+ images available
[edit]@Astros4477: I've just transferred 100+ images of GateKeeper from Flickr to Commons. Take your pick which ones you want to include in the article. Some samples:

- Thank you so much! I was hoping Jeremy would go to Cedar Point this summer as he always uploads hundreds of photos at the parks.-- Astros4477 (Talk) 20:17, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Opening date
[edit]Strange question, but I'm confused, is the opening in 2004 or 2013? That sounds crazy, but in the first section it says it was opened in 2004, which doesn't seem right. Meanwhile in the infobox, it says that it was opened in 2013, which seems proper. I don't know much but most info I've seen supports 2013. I don't feel well enough to edit a page this big. 67.247.128.229 (talk) 22:10, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
- @67.247.128.229: It was incorrect. As you can see in this edit, an IP user randomly changed it to 2004. I've reverted it back. Thanks. --GoneIn60 (talk) 14:40, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
