Finding a village

[edit]

Where on Earth is "Brahmansamarkuchi"? I suspect this is composed of two words with a missing "na" somewhere. TrangaBellam (talk) 07:59, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Chaipau: any idea? TrangaBellam (talk) 11:43, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have not heard of this place, but it does sound like a village from the Kamrup region. Villages in this region sometimes end in "-kuchi", a tradition from the first millennium CE. Nalbari district, where this village is supposed to be located, is part of the Kamrup region. Chaipau (talk) 12:32, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is Samarkuchi, a village under Borbhag CD. I note that the village has no SC or ST population; maybe, the inhabitants are all Brahmins? Thus, Brahman-Samarkuchi. TrangaBellam (talk) 13:13, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
