ALT1: ... that Gene and Yolanda Camarena gave $1 million to Wichita State University, with over half that amount designated for scholarships for Hispanic and Black students? Source: Leiker, Amy Renee (2020-09-01). "$1M gift to help students of color at WSU". The Wichita Eagle. pp. A1, A5 – via Newspapers.com.
Overall: Nearly there. Only need a source in Gene's article for the statement After attending KU, Camarena moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he has lived since, except for his two years spent at Harvard.BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:00, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ALT2: ... that Gene Camarena is in the International Pizza Hut Franchise Holders Association Hall of Fame? "Board of Directors". Pizza Hut Foundation. Retrieved 2024-06-13.
Maybe it's just me, but I did find it rather interesting that there's even an international hall of fame for Pizza Hut franchisees. ALT3 is interesting to me (though less than ALT2), but maybe it's because I'm not from a business background. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:37, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm gonna pop in and suggest an alt hook, do with it what you will.
As Bsoyka has already given the article a full review and the hooks have already been checked, I'm giving both ALT2 and ALT4 a tick. However, as an objection was raised to ALT2, my preference would be ALT4. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:35, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also left them a DM on Discord but they did not respond. For what it's worth, the issue that led to the pull wasn't an issue with the hook, but rather the a major section being largely reliant on non-independent sources. With the nominator not having edited since August 23rd, and not responding to both on-Wiki and off-Wiki messages, regrettably the time has come to mark the nomination for closure as abandoned. If another editor is willing to adopt this then they can do so and the nomination can continue. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:58, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
