discuss merge

[edit]

This Article along with East Fijian languages, West Fijian languages and related dialects of the Fijian Language I think should be merged with the Article Fijian Languages as really they discuss variations of the same topic and these other Language articles on the Fijian language are just small stubs and perhaps the Fijian Language article should be changed to just Language in Fiji and cover all related languages in the Fiji Islands. feedback and thoughts on this matter. I don't necessarily disagree with this proposal, but there are plenty of other small languages with their own pages. I think for consistency we should leave this and the other Fijian language pages where they are. However, a Languages of Fiji page, a page similar to Languages of Papua New Guinea, is definitely called for. Paxsimius 20:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do the islands of "Gone" and "Dau" even exist?

[edit]

I can't find any island with these names of these on any atlas or map that I look at. The Glottolog entry gives coordinates for the "Gone Dau" language on the island of Yaqaga in the far west of Vanua Levu. Is "Gone Dau" just the name of the language and someone perhaps mistook them for names of islands? 136.24.55.213 (talk) 01:50, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
