Some useful links regarding Robert Cochrane's (Roy Bowers') use of the term 'grey magic' to indicate the art of obfuscation and keeping people guessing:

Cochrane was a famous and influential witch who inspired the formation of quite a number of modern witchcraft traditions. I haven't the time right now to work these into the article, but I may come back and have a go if no-one else does. Fuzzypeg 23:49, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a start, and included info from the last four references; I haven't yet added anything related to Cochrane's 'grey magic'. I don't know how much time I can put into this; if someone else wants to make a start on a Roy Bowers section, be my guest! Fuzzypeg 11:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Examples of Gray Magic: Writethrough?

[edit]

The article seems to change voices between the introduction and the "Examples of Gray Magic" section. Whereas the introduction is clear and aptly worded, there is something--well, a bit awkward about the "examples" section. (I mean no offense to the author.)

Since I don't like to just sit back and issue complaints without actually contributing, I would like to help clarify the wording of that section, if I may. However, I do not wish to accidentally change its meaning out of any miscommunication. If the author would appreciate a writethrough of that particular section, I volunteer for the task, after a brief discussion to make sure no misunderstandings take place. Feel free to edit this page. I welcome such revising simply because I need all the help I can get. I've been planning on adding and revising myself but I do not have the time. Thank you. --Condalence] 18:38, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first couple of paragraphs I've tried to reword for neutrality and verifiability, but I didn't get any further. If you're keen to give this article the overhaul it needs, then go for it! Fuzzypeg 04:20, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping Condalence would take action to improve the referencing and replace some of the unsourced essays in the article, but seeing as he hasn't managed to get to this yet, I'm jumping in and doing it. I've been trying to give him a bit of coaching, which is why I initially held back... Rangergordon, feel free to add/edit as well. Fuzzypeg 05:20, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've really been meaning to get to this, and I really will when I get some time. I've just been swamped lately. Thanks, Condalence and Fuzzypeg. Rangergordon (talk) 15:56, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hard to find resources for gray magic

[edit]

It is hard for me to find resources. I live in Mississippi which is a Bible-belted place. Plus it is poor. So I can not find any books on Gray magick. Books a Million is the only thing that has occult/magick related books. None of the books contains no information on Gray magick. I have only found a few websites on the subject. I'm trying to find some history of gray magick and i'm finding no luck. I need help. Thanks. --男らしい冬 04:06, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this article says most of the stuff you need to know to get your basic context. If there's anything more specific you want to know, there are plenty of magic discussion groups you could ask at. Asking a specific question will be more likely to get answers. Fuzzypeg 04:00, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was trying to find some history of Gray magic. I would like to find a pacific time. I would like to find the tools that are used. I tried typing in History of gray magic and it leads me nowhere. Asking someone wouldn't work because I can't reference it. I must say,it is a challenge. --男らしい冬 21:00, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I found a sight on gray magic. It doesn't list the history of it though. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080915170117AAP76Df --男らしい冬 21:04, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Grey magic is largely a 20th century concept, and in fact it's a number of different concepts. Different people mean different things when they say "grey magic". It is not a system of magic. It is an approach to magic, or, as I noted, a number of approaches. There are no specific tools. The way to practise grey magic is to learn any variety of magic and then use it in an unethical or somewhat questionable manner. Fuzzypeg 02:30, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...in my opinion. Fuzzypeg 02:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense. The more I think about grey magick, I think of it being more of a "balanced magic". Example: Its not only white but black. It can be accidental, or it can be used on purpose. It can harm but benefit. That is where the "different approaches" apply. Thank you. --男らしい冬 02:42, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this article should be deleted but I think Gray Witch should be merged with it. FWIW, many people other than Otokorashii Fuyu have worked on the article.Machine Elf 1735 (talk) 17:25, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Real Grey (Or Gray, if you choose death) Magic?

[edit]

Hello, I am a Magician in Robinson House. Generally we leave this stuff alone but since the NWO seeks to push conventional Magic on the people through newer schools (No recorded statement), I would like to take my time and update Magic pages like this. Really give them the edge they need so that people can learn about REAL magic, which REALLY works. This stuff on this page, of course, is completely nonsense other than the Grey being the midway point between Black and White Magic.

I'm kind of offended. What do I do when I can provide real, authentic Magic knowledge to replace this garbage (And intentionally garbage) on this page? Guess I'll just have to make sources for my typing? Isn't that corrupt? — Preceding unsigned comment added by XThe9thSignX (talkcontribs) 12:26, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
