Notability

[edit]

This is one of the first gastro pubs in the UK, it is in the Top Ten pubs in the UK, how can it not be notable and yet pubs of no discernible note such as The Old Surrey Hounds have uncontested articles? Paste (talk) 18:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article states two reasons for notability, tagging for deletion because it doesn't indicate why its notable seems odd to me. --BrucePodger (talk) 18:22, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just tidied up the article and added some cites, but whilst doing that I got the distinct feeling that this pub has been a bit over-claimed. One of the notability claims was that it was the first gastropub back in 1975, even though that is well documented as being The Eagle in 1991. It has gathered some restaurant reviews, but I'm not sure how notable that makes it, as many restaurants get reviewed. I'd like to see some greater evidence of notability.
