Fair use rationale for Image:GaryMoore GrindingStone.jpg

[edit]

Image:GaryMoore GrindingStone.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Donnelly

Was this guitarist really also a former Governor of Missouri who had been dead for about a decade before the recording of this album? Gwladys24 (talk) 18:01, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • ... that after his first solo album, Grinding Stone, Gary Moore didn't make another one for five years? Source: "Gary Moore’s first solo album in 1973 quickly disappeared without trace .... 1978’s Back On The Streets is really where the Gary Moore story begins." ([1])

Interesting facts about a forgotten album, on good sources, no copyvio obvious. I am not quite familiar jargon, please explain just for me what "split up the band" means. Can we have the image a bit larger, and aligned with the header box? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:08, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Split up the band" means the group leader (or leaders, or by mutual consent, the whole group) says, "Right, we're not going to be gigging any more, you'll all have to join some other group". As for the picture rearrangement, I don't know how to do that, maybe RexxS does? (though I would draw your attention to this comment). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:24, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for explaining, both. I was confused, thinkining Thin Lizzy was one of the songs, not the new band, sorry. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:36, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Small point re "departure from his later solo work"...how can can anything be a departure from something yet to happen. Also re the hook, best to avoid run-on blue links (Grinding Stone, Gary Moore). Anyway, Gary Moore fan here. Ceoil (talk) 21:59, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see no confusion with the links, separated by a comma, and one bold, the other not. But thanks for the other. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:22, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
ALT1 "... that blues-rock guitarist Gary Moore did not follow up his 1973 debut solo album Grinding Stone for another five years?
I'd like to from Ritchie. "blues-rock guitarist" helps the general reader, I think. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:54, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well he's not really a "blues-rock guitarist" on that album; it's a mixture of jazz fusion, bit of blues, and some Santana rip-offs. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:00, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discography Gripes

[edit]

In my very 'eavy, very 'umble opinion, it makes absolutely no sense to exclude this album from Gary Moore's main discography; simply because it has the words "the" and "band" before and after GARY MOORE in big bold all-caps shouldn't disqualify it. We shouldn't base information on formalities and mold-fitting rather than facts and truth. Appearances and formalities certainly shouldn't take precedence over truth and facts. Ditto for G-Force, Scars, and even BBM... 136.38.160.249 (talk) 17:35, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
