What municipality
[edit]Surely Guanabo is in Habana del Este, not Guanabacoa ?

- You are most probably right, Guanabacoa would then be just the south part of Ciudad de Havana? Guanabo was credited as part in the Guanabacoa entry, that's the only reason why it appeared as such, even though it most certainly is way east of Havana. Now most mapping sources don't even credit Guanabo as a town, and I don't understand why, as it is a rather large settlement. Thanks for pointing that out. If this is the case, Guanabacoa needs to be edited as well. Qyd (talk)12:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Upon further investigation, I found that there's another Guanabo in the municipality of Batabanó [1], while the tourist town of Guanabo belongs to the santa cruz del norte municipality [2]. This could explain the confusion. Qyd (talk)14:03, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Qyd - you are relying on a website that is frozen in the 1950s - things may have changed since then. The city of Havana - like most large cities - has grown to absorn the towns around it. "Habana del Este" is one of the municipalities that make up the City of Havana. It may be that Habana del Este is a new municipality recognising the growth in population (in Alamar, Cojimar etc.)
- You're right about that, and I'm willing to consult any other reference; unfortunately sources about Cuba are rather scarce. Qyd (talk)14:03, 04:29, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- I overlayed GIS data with some GPS records, and, indeed, Guanabo falls right at the eastern tip of the Ciudad de La Habana Province boundaries. modified the location map accordingly. Qyd (talk)14:25, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
