One thing I was curious about, was the extent to which Hasford's The Phantom Blooper influenced the movie Full Metal Jacket... I know the film was loosely based on The Short-Timers, but there seems to be some dialogue used from Blooper as well (especially some of R. Lee Ermey's lines)... Anyone know? J. FMJ came out in 1987 and Blooper came out in 1990. I would guess that maybe Gus reused some dialogue, either taking from his Blooper draft when working on the screenplay or possibly vice-versa.
