Art
[edit]Somewhere I read about, that he had a vast art collection that still excists ("Bolckow Bicentenary Exhibition - 2006"). Unfortunately I do not have more details about that. Maybe there is anybody out there, who knows more about it? http://www.flickr.com/photos/bolckow/sets/72157603781850464/with/5184337398/ --74albia (talk) 09:24, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Chris Scott Wilson records that Bolckow's art collection from the gallery in Marton Hall was sold at Sotheby's after his death in 1878 in a record-breaking £71,387 one-day sale. The sugar refiner Henry Tate bid 4,000 guineas for Millais's painting The North-West Passage, which Bolckow had bought for £4,930. The collection seems definitely therefore to have been dispersed, though a part may perhaps remain somewhere. --- Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:40, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
