Appointed "Lord Lawrence"

[edit]

The ODNB states that Lawrence was moved to the "other house" by Cromwell as "Henry, Lord Lawrence". Could you explain in the article how "lordships" during the Protectorate differed from the peerage system we know today? I know it's wikilinked, but the reader may be confused about why Lawrence didn't remain a peer until his death. Many thanks, PeterSymonds | talk 20:26, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
