I don't think the last sentence should be in parenthesis. [1] "Parentheses are used to contain parenthetical (or optional, additional) material in a sentence that could be removed without destroying the meaning of the main text." See Bracket for more on this. Also, the sentence lacks a subject, as previously written. Finally, the designation may have happened recently but not now; otherwise the tense of the verb is wrong.
