Wording

[edit]

Even though the wording in the Characteristic dishes really requires copyediting into encyclopedic English, it's so unique and amusing I really hesitate to change it :) Too memorable (kind of like what was said of the 1911 Encyclopedia Brittanica, "tradition of Diderot which assumes that information can be made memorable only when it is slightly coloured by prejudice.") --71.111.194.50 (talk) 18:17, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New section

[edit]

I add a new section about the "interesting stories associated with Huaiyang cuisine". M_Eva_M (talk) 17:15, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

The current form of the article makes it seem like the name derives—like Jianghuai—from the names of the Huai and Yangtze rivers. That's obviously not the case, since the Chinese names of the Yangtze almost never have anything to do with "Yang".

(a) Can we get a source that it does specifically come from Yangzhou? and (b), if that's the case, does the first part actually refer to Huaiyin/Huai'an and not the Huai River at all? — LlywelynII 13:43, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
