Question

[edit]

Unless I'm mistaken, isn't the large grain elevator near the salt mine (southwest of the airport) the second-largest in the world? I remember hearing somewhere that it was once the largest, but a Russian elevator was built to surpass it back during the Cold War (when both cultures were doing all manner of flamboyant things to prove their culture was more fit to rule the world). Also, I have a friend who works for the Salt Mine museum that recently opened, who tells me that the original prints of many famous movies, such as Gone With the Wind, are stored in a special section of the mines. 129.237.90.24 21:50, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, never mind. I just wasn't paying attention. Disregard all of that.

Hutch???

[edit]

I've heard "Hutch" used as a nickname for the town many times, on NPR just the other day. Is that worth noting as a nickname? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.237.147.59 (talk) 16:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

–––––––––––––––request for a picture I would like to see a picture of the grain elevator that is one half mile long, this is mentioned in the Wikipedia entry on grain elevators.64.126.93.201 (talk) 14:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1r3gr37n0n: actually im a Hutchinson local, and yes i would agree with you that "Hutch" is a notable nickname since pretty much everyone i know uses the expression at least once, and i can get a picture of the grain elevator later....

Transportation

[edit]

Hello. I'm working on a "Bus Transporation in Kansas" project, and I've made this page, and the subsection for transportation, the redirect for Reno County Area Transportation. Please add things as you see are needed, as I'm from Manhattan and I don't know much about the system. It seems like its set up very similar to the CityGo system in Salina. Anyway, thank you and the article looks like its at a pretty good start. I went ahead and expanded out the transportation section into three parts. Someone should probably add highways or something on infastructure and that Promise Hospital you have as well as part of infastructure. I can do it, but again, its finals week :( Enjoy! Industry section

[edit]

I'm guessing this is another convenient oversight from the stellar wikipedia writers, but shouldn't Cessna and Boeing and other aircraft manufactures be listed as one of the leading industries of Hutchinson, Kansas, considering the town is one of the leading aircraft manufacturing centers in the world? Perhaps a tiny itty bitty mentioning of this somewhere in the article, since it's Hutchinson's claim to fame? Maybe? --MarioSmario (talk) 17:25, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
