[edit]Who the f*** in Argentina doesn't believe Maradona is God??? You must be kidding me, at least show some proof, name at least one person other Pele who believes otherwise... What a joke... Also give a link as to when Tevez said that about Maradona. He would never say such a thing.
Why the link to the homepage of the church doesn't work? Do they have a new homepage? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.117.104.82 (talk) 21:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

He was crucified, he died, and was buried, suspended from the fields, but he returned and rose from the dead, his magic.

Reporter: The soccer star, Diego Armando Maradona, inspires religious fanaticism, so much so that his followers created a church where they worship him, the Maradonian church. Founded in 1988, its followers state that they have more than eighty thousand members in sixty countries. One of the main rituals is the so called Maradonian wedding. This time, two Mexican couples traveled to Buenos Aires to get married on the day that commemorates the birthday of the so called "god of soccer"; hence, Christmas is in the year 47, after (the birth of) Maradona.
---
Reporter: The couples were married by one of the founders of the Maradonian church who played the role of a priest and issued rings and even a marriage license. [music]
---
Reportero: Estais decidido a amarse y a respectarse compartiendo partidos [incomprensible] y orden de nuestro dios.
Reporter: Are you devoted to loving one another and respecting one another, sharing games, (unclear) and the order of our god.
---
[Aplauso]
Reporter: Even though the ritual lacks legal validity, it has a symbolic value for them. The followers say that it is similar to a Catholic ceremony but adapted to the Maradonian religion. [Applause]
---
Woman interviewed: At first it was kind of strange, right? It was something I didn’t completely understand and so it made me nervous, but well, afterwards it was all about emotion and the nerves of the wedding and obviously I was happy.
---
Reporter: But where did the idea to get married in a Maradonian church come from?
---
Man interviewed: Really it came from the idea of the other couple who also just got married today, who are Adrian and Olivia and they suggested it to us and that was how we decided. We said we accept. We came to an agreement and we both agreed and that was how it came about.
---
Reporter: Maradona was present in photos, marriage cards, and even in a video made for the occasion.
---
Y un beso grandote a Mario, a Emma.
And a big kiss for Mario, for Emma.
---
Reporter: After the wedding celebration, the hundreds of guests went directly to celebrate Maradona’s birthday, and of course, [happy birthday to you...] the marriages as well.
