Neutrality

[edit]

"The neutrality of this article is disputed. Relevant discussion may be found on the talk page. Please do not remove this message until conditions to do so are met." - it annoys me when people leave this tag and don't make any suggestions on the talkpage. I can see at the moment this article is a puff piece though. Mujinga (talk) 12:21, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the following since I can't find the source and it's been tagged since 2011:
The International Film Festival Rotterdam management emphasizes diversity in its film programming and on building relationships with and between filmmakers and audiences.[citation needed] Rather than red-carpet events, the festival's design is to encourage film makers to mingle with attendees. As a result, the festival claims having "a unique atmosphere" and a "fiercely loyal following" locally and internationally - around 90% of tickets are sold to regular supporters.[citation needed]
The festival is described as having "a serious commitment to film lovers and film making - screenings are shown without 'popcorn breaks', trailers or other commercials. This sense of purpose plays a crucial role in attracting the best directors to the event, allowing it to forge a reputation for diversity, discovery and innovation."[citation needed]

After reading through the article, it is noticeable that there is some biased/promotional wording used to make this film festival seem more influential than it may be. If it is truly unique and one of the most noticeable events in the independent film industry, it could be mentioned if that information can be sourced back to a credible reference. I think that this page only needs slight edits before the neutrality infobox can be removed. In totality, it doesn't seem to be a puff piece; just a little puffy!

yeah i agree with that assessment, there def needs to be more references. Mujinga (talk) 16:35, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Improving this page

[edit]

I am a paid, in-house PR editor for International Film Festival Rotterdam and I would like to help improving this article.

The article feels a out-of-balance as it is, with lots of attention for festival venues and past Tiger Award winners (this could be a separate, list-type article I suppose), while other information on the festival is lacking. I also recognize that certain areas are somewhat puffy at the moment.

I would like to help independent editors to improve this page by providing suggestions using reliable third-party sources.

How would I go about this? My first guess would be simply re-writing/extending the article with as much reliably sourced information as possible and posting the draft right here in the talk page for an independent editor to review. While I wait for a reaction to this suggestion I will go do exactly that.

I will take the structure of articles such as the ones on Toronto International Film Festival or Reel Affirmations as an example.

Please feel free to submit your proposed draft or link to your draft here on the talk page along with a new {{request edit}} template when ready to proceed. Regards,  Spintendo  17:37, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
