Burma/Norway?

[edit]

Why is Voice of Burma listed as Norway's international radio/TV broadcaster? (Alphaboi867 07:30, 17 August 2005 (UTC))[reply]

I don't know I think it is a exile broadcaster that the best some people think is in this article.159753 09:20, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

NRK ceased shortwave transmissions. The Voice of Burma is the only international broadcaster operating in Norway now.

This has now been corrected. User:Kathleen.wright5 17:06, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland

[edit]

Would RTÉ Radio 1 Europe count as an "international broadcaster"? Its been received in Brazil (albeit during odd lift conditions...) and specifically targets Europe on mediumwave and shortwave as well as satellites that have never traditionally been used in Ireland Hotbird, as well as being heavily relayed on WRN English. --Kiand 21:33, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

meh, a few of the other ones listed (O1 International) are definately the copyright-cleaned international feed of the main national broadcaster, and are covering LW/MW/satellite, all of which RTÉ do. So I'm adding it.

Request cleanup

The WWII stuff is overlapping with the pre-era material, and there are a few other things that seem disorganized. Cwolfsheep 14:28, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added ARRL to the list of links, mainly because any discussion of radio in the US/international arena seemed incomplete without reference to the main ham body in the US, and other radio sites do mention ARRL, so this brings some consistency to the citations. Can't say that a Tech plus can't make a contribution to radio. de KC2QGM Joe 00:35, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am starting a rewrite, including citiations from reliable sources where I can place them. Right now, the article is too disjointed and is too much of a series of lists. This is a shame, because international broadcasting has a rich and interesting history.

In rewriting this article, my emphasis is on international broadcasting and its various methods only. I might move some of the ARRL data to the appropriate pages on ham radio.GABaker 2105 28 January 2008 (UTC).

I have added an External Link. The World Radio TV Handbook. Kathleen.wright5 14:00, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please add International Television Expert Group (www.itve.org)

[edit]

I am not an active wikipedia editor but a user - so I would kindly ask to add the International Television Expert Group (www.itve.org), at least with an external link - many thanks, frank 88.74.215.232 (talk) 22:50, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Euronews

[edit]

i would add euronews to the international tv broadcasters if it's allrigth with u; for one, it meets the criteria (international broadcasting (150 countries, while atm just 150m possible viewers) and multinational/international stakeholders) and on the other hand i becomes more and more relevant (at least in the eu area, as far as i can see) LotP (talk)

Definition

[edit]

This page needs a definition. I've made a first attempt but it needs to prove its notability as a distinct concept from state media and public media. Superb Owl (talk) 20:11, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just because International broadcasting today is mostly in the form of 24 hour news channels doesn't mean news is the definition of international Broadcasting. There have been plenty of non-news international broadcasts and for decades international broadcasters ie shortwave radio included a lot of cultural programming. Wellington Bay (talk) 20:46, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds great - not sure why you couldn't just add that to the definition I started...I'm going to undo your reversion and add your suggestion Superb Owl (talk) 20:54, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
