Evrenos
[edit]User:Alexikoua claimed rm irrelevant link and removed the link to "Evrenosogullari". But Rahmi Bey was a member of the family of Evrenos (Evrenoszadeler or Evrenosoğulları)[1] Nobody called him "Evrenos" without any grounds. In this situation, maybe the re-direction of Evrenosogullari would be not appropriate. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 17:53, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Arnold Toynbee criticised this university
[edit]Toynbee:"The new university was a castle in the air, without local foundations- a doubtful experiment even if made at the cost of nothing else."
-Only few Turks spoke enough Greek to follow the education- Turks were cut off from Western education by Greeks instead of spreading it as some Greek propaganda claimed. Toynbee argued that the Greek government was encouraging Turkish primary education but at the same time sabotaging Turkish higher education. Smyrna's Greek governor Aristeidis Stergiadis expropriated the Sultaniyyah School of Smyrna, which prepared students for entry into higher education in Constantinople.
