2 Wessex

B Coy 1 Wessex was transferred to 2 Wessex on 1 April 1986. 2 Wessex was not in 43 Wessex Infantry Bde as that Bde did not exist at that time. 2 Wessex had been in 8 Field Force until the Field Force structure reverted to Bdes, whereupon the Bn was ADMINCON 5 Abn Bde in its role as an airportable Home Defence Bn. It was allocated in Transition to War to the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Tactical Area of Responsibility. In 1988 The Bn moved to 2 Inf Bde along with 1 Queens, 6/7 Queens and 5 RGJ.
