Music or Lyrics

[edit]

It isn't clear if he primarily writes the music or the lyrics with Taylor Swift 70.26.26.75 (talk) 19:34, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested Changes

[edit]

Hi. I work for Mr. Antonoff and previously posted at BLPN about some issues. I wanted to request a few other small corrections/changes as well that aren't necessarily BLP issues:

 1. Infobox Image: The image in the infobox is from 2012 (12 years ago). I secured a release from the photographer for some newer images. This one would be a good updated image.
 2. Bubblegum pop: In the infobox under Genres it says "Bubblegum pop", but there are no citations, nor any available (see Google News search), that characterize his music in that genre.
 3. Grammys: In the second paragraph of the introduction, it says he's won 10 grammys. However, later down in the "Taylor Swift" section, it mentions the 11th he won this year ("Best Pop Vocal Album in 2024").
 4. Label: He recently introduced his own record label I was hoping could be added. Draft: "In 2023, he started his own record label in collaboration with Jamie Oborne.[1] The record label, called Shadow of the City, is an imprint of Oborne's label, called Dirty Hit.[2]"
 5. The New Look: His work on the soundtrack for this TV Series was a big milestone for him. Can we add something like: "He produced the soundtrack for the Apple TV+ series The New Look in 2024.[3]"

Thanks in advance to any volunteers that take the time to take a look at my requests. Pinging @Gråbergs Gråa Sång:, who responded previously to my BLPN post. Below are the citations used above for reference.

@BaseballLover334 I'll take a look tomorrow. I may have seen your ping and then forgotten about it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:23, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BaseballLover334 You even name your refs, you are a goddess among WP:PAID editors. If you want, you can add a little extra polish to a ref like so:[1]. Don't bother if it would make a redlink.
I did the above, apart from grammy. I count 10 in the table and [2].
On the leadimage, someone might decide to crop that into a more head-and-shoulders shape at some point. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:55, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I cropped it, keeping with the general flair of the image. @Gråbergs Gråa Sång Do you know why it won't appear next to the short description below the search bar? JackTheSecond (talk) 22:35, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
From my laptop POV, I don't see anything wrong. Cropping looks good. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:44, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
new image was deleted at commons ~ JackTheSecond (talk) 11:39, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So it was. @BaseballLover334, if you want to fix that, COM:VRT/CONSENT may be of help to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:46, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: Regarding the number of Grammys (10 versus 11), the Wikipedia table listing 10 Grammys is missing the most recent Grammy for "Best Pop Vocal Album in 2024." The Grammy website you linked to was also not counting this most recent grammy yet, but was just recently updated to 11. I can put together an update for the table to add the 11th grammy, if that would make sense.
Regarding the image, I submitted a Declaration of Consent with the photographer's signature, but OTRS said the email itself must come directly from the photographer, so I'm working on that. Thanks for all your help and your compliments ("you are a goddess among WP:PAID editors"). I appreciate how courteous and thoughtful everyone at Wikipedia has been. BaseballLover334 (talk) 17:17, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the lead, but I can not figure out how to add the 2024 Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy [3] to the table. @JackTheSecond, can you? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:49, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång I made the edit. If you're curious, it was the 26 that needed changing to a 27. JackTheSecond (talk) 19:51, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@JackTheSecond I'll try to remember that, thanks! And some people claim COI-editing is difficult..! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:02, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tbf, it is a little bit. There is always a bit of apprehension donating time to people who are paid for what they are doing. Also, requests will often be treated as business correspondence, which does not help at all. The request above did a lot of things right in being concise, friendly, and reasonable. JackTheSecond (talk) 20:49, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was attempting sarcastic humor (I should probably stop that, text-only communication etc). Yes, COI editing is often quite difficult, even if the requests are reasonable. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:54, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Next Requested Changes

[edit]

Hi. I work for Mr. Antonoff and wanted to request impartial editors consider a few more updates to the page:

1. Accolades section: Adding the Ivor Novello Awards to the Accolades table. Below is a first draft of the wiki-code to add it using this citation:
Wikicode to add to Accolades table

|- ! scope="row" | Ivor Novello Awards | 2013 | "King" | Best song musically and lyrically | won | style="text-align:center;" |

2. Shadow of the City Section: Suggest deleting this one-sentence section, moving that sentence to the Personal Life section, and adding more information about The Ally Coalition before it. Reason being this content has to do with personal philanthropy, not his career (and to avoid a one-sentence section).
Draft Content for Personal life section

He founded The Ally Coalition circa 2014 with his sister, Rachel Antonoff. It hosts an annual benefits concert, called "The Talent Show," that has raised more than $2 million to support LGBT issues.[1] In 2015, Antonoff started his own music festival called Shadow of the City,[2] which raises funding for The Ally Coalition.[3]

3. Requested Feedback:
The page often lists each of the soundtracks Antonoff has produced in paragraph form. It feels disjointed and it drones on and on "In <year>, produced <soundtrack> and <soundtrack>. Then in <year> produced..." - that kind of thing. I was thinking of making a table similar to the ones on Mark Ronson discography, which I think would be a much better way to present this information. Wondering if editor(s) feel that would be helpful?

4. Images:
The copyrights of the images have been processed! Can we add this image to the top of the "Music career" section and this one to replace the outdated one from 2012 in the infobox?

BaseballLover334 (talk) 19:44, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 1. done
 2. done, moved to other projects instead
 3. not done, I decluttered things a bit but the simple version (that can also be seen at Taylor Swift for example) works fine
 4. done, though the second image looks much more processed than is usual
