From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I just wanted to state from the off that I'm in a dual, and possibly conflicting role here as both the author of this article and one of the developers of Jailbreak: Source. I've done my best to remain as objective as possible, as I understand from the Wiki guidelines that authors writing about their own work is frowned upon, but not disallowed. The reason I've written the article is down to community pressure to have one, but a lack of success in terms of having a Jailbreak: Source article remain due to lack of notability referenced by the fans who have made these articles. As such, I've attempted to adhere to the guidelines as much as possible, and posted links to articles, both on and offline to back this up where I can, I hope it's enough!

I also hope that I've been objective enough, but I realise as one of the authors, it's often hard to strike the balance between overstating your own work, which I know is not the purpose of Wikipedia, and simply providing information on a subject, so if there's anything I can do to improve the objectivity of the article, please let me know.

I'm very keen on keeping the article up, and adding to it overtime as we progress, with contributions from others, but I understand that Wikipedia guidelines must be followed first and foremost. Finally, if there's anything I can do to improve the article in general, please let me know! WillsAM (talk) 23:04, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Generalizing?

[edit]

Jailbreak originally was a custom game mode for Quake 2, then was ported to the UT series, Quake 3, Half-Life 2, and other games. Maybe there should be a generalized version of this article to cover all incarnations of the game mode. A history of the game mode in general and how the various versions influenced each other might be interesting bits of information that deserve a separate, more general article. —Wormbo 11:37, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
