Your Dr. Phil appearance
[edit]Dear Jay,
Thank you for writing your book. I suffer from crippling depression as well and, as you described your journey, you could have been writing about me. I have been able to live a "normal" life despite my illness, and have been blessed by having a wonderful family, however I haven't been able to have a successful marriage, going through two divorces. When my son passed away five years ago my depression became unbearable, and I haven't been able to find any doctor that has understood my issues. Medication has not been an answer, nor discussions, so I just have to go through life fighting this on my own. Thank God I am not suicidal.
My faith is a help but not any organized religion, and I have never met a pastor or doctor that seems to be able to relate.
The things that you said on Dr. Phil's show today mirrored my life. The way you described your physical ailments due to the depression was "spot on". I have already ordered your book as I know it will help me.
I live in Maryland and I wish that I could shake your hand, however L.A. is just a little too far away. Again, thank you for opening up to the world about your journey. I know it was a tough thing for you to do but it will help so many people. Bless you my friend.
