Notability

[edit]

Evidence in cited sources: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] ~Kvng (talk) 17:01, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this even here?

[edit]

Gariepy isn't a neuroscientist. He was drummed out of a post-doc at Duke for relations with students, then went online to ply his trade, frequently associating with alt-right and openly white supremacist personalities. He wrote a meandering book on evolution that was basically only purchased and taken seriously by his young followers.

Honestly, any credible neuroscientist would not want this individual anywhere near science. You will note that I didn't even detail his numerous side issues, which are easily discoverable online. If biographies such as Gariepy's are to remain on Wiki, we must ask for more clarity on the notability criteria. If enough people believe a set of statements about a mentally ill racist, does that make the mentally ill racist notable for being those things?

I'm not a Wikinaut, or i would propose deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:406:8280:D500:F016:EC71:1F9B:2095 (talk) 20:29, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

two of the sources for the White Supremacist claim are HuffPo and The Daily Beast. If FOX isn't a source because it's biased (I'd agree with that) then these should also be banned. CobGemmothy (talk) 15:10, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Then make a case at wp:rsn, not here. Slatersteven (talk) 15:13, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What? Slatersteven (talk) 15:22, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Slatersteven: That's a troll. --Leonidlednev (T, C, L) 15:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I get that now, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and CobGemmothy read wp:troll. Slatersteven (talk) 15:35, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
