Snuka Murder Controversy

[edit]

Back in the late 80s, a woman who was romantically involved with Snuka died of head trauma. Snuka was never charged, but a lot of people believe he did this.

I did a search. All I could find was a post from EZBoard, with a (dead) link to the article, and what I believe is the article itself, copy/pasted into a post.

Anyone want to tackle this? McJeff 07:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I came here to ask about this here is the link that can help http://www.forbes.com/2007/06/28/book-review-wrestling-oped-cz_mm_0628wrestling.html?partner=yahootix towards the bottom it talks about it.

The Founding Father of Ring Intensity?

[edit]

This section is clearly awful and POV riddled, but can anyone find anything to salvage anything from it? I'm reluctant to delete the whole section Regards2jimi 17:19, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is it awful and POV-riddled, as you said, it's not even remotely true. Bruiser Brody, Ray Stevens, and Terry Funk all pre-dated Snuka in "ring intensity" by years--all the more laughable that Funk is used as a figure that Snuka influenced. Whatever feud that writer has with the Warrior's website, it needs to be taken somewhere else. Chalk this up as one vote for a complete deletion of the section.

Furthermore, the last two entries on the Trivia section are useless: Snuka did not invent the "I Love You" gesture and "the Phenom" was a common nickname for Snuka when he came back to the WWF in the late '80s. "The Phenom" tag didn't get applied to the Undertaker until years after WM7--there is no relationship between those nicknames whatsoever. These are being removed.PeteF3 04:05, 21 August 2006 (UTC) Wrong answer pally boy. Snuka did define ring intensity before even the Brawlers of Terry Funk and Bruiser Brody ever did. Look up the facts instead of being so one-sided. I for one do not segregate brawler wrestlers from aerial wrestlers, and even without the aerial and brawling attacks of each of these wrestlers, Snuka still matched the definition of intensity the most. It is the definition of intensity that you also should examine more bucko[reply]

Since you apparently wrote the section, I'd say it's up to you to provide the facts and sources. Brody was a major star in the US in the mid-1970's, while Snuka was still in relative obscurity in the Pacific Northwest. Terry Funk was already a World Champion. Ray Stevens had a wild, aerial-with-brawling style even earlier than them, going back to the early '60s. Those are just 3 guys off the top of my head who pre-dated Snuka when it came to "intensity," however you want to define that. (And no dictionary I've ever seen defines intensity as "flux.") 65.186.74.194 07:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Intensity is defined as energy flux that is pertained to an extreme degree. This can pertain to force, strength, quality, and/or power. And the reason why the article has a questionmark is because of the debate on whether or not modern-day ring intensity is true recognized ring intensity

That definition is nowhere in any dictionary I've seen. Further, there's absolutely no evidence that Snuka was a "pioneer" in anything except possibly moves off the top rope and bizarre interviews. This "debate" does not belong in an encyclopedia. PeteF3 02:18, 2 September 2006 (UTC) Too, bad, there is a ton of evidence in the video archives of Snuka's intensity. Read the dictionary better, because yes this is the definition is in the online dictionary and other dictionaries.[reply]

    • (time4kashun)I would have to agree with the above statement. An encyclopedia is a documentation of facts, not a point of view or opinion. Your article is also poorly written, I assume you are not a native english speaker or just not that bright. I am sorry to be harsh with you, but your addition is ruining this page. It is YOUR OPINION, and not fact like the rest of this article. Read the license below "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable"!!! I have restored the content as more than one person has decided that your edits do not add value. Please respect the articles integrity and do not repost opinion! Or maybe just add a small blurb to the trivia or accomplishments section...

Yes I am bright, for your information, and the facts I do present are variable from watching various wrestling archive videos year by year. I am obviously more brighter then your unlogical and hypocritic mind You are also a coward for erasing my external links too, which prove my points further of who he influenced too. Quit defaming Snuka. And yes I am matching the given policy of of "Encyclopiedic content must be verifiable."

    • (time4akshun)Sasaki,Regards2Jimi, and myself all think your additions are not appropriate for this article. Please respect the majority. I think I understand and even agree somewhat to your points, but the content is still not approrpriate for an encyclopedic entry based on facts. Please look at the rest of the content of the article. No other content is based on opinion. You are robbing people that use this encyclopedia from a clear reference article for use in other works by violating the rules of this journal. Snuka is great, that is why we are all here.

I had a go at it today, adding a lot more links and revising/expanding the '80s WWF career section, see what you think. I didn't touch the trivia section. Cbj77 12:32, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Murder Charges

Shouldn't there be a link of for the source from when he was charged with murder of his girlfriend?

Orphaned references in Jimmy Snuka

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Jimmy Snuka's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "WWEProfile":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OnlineWorldofWrestling

[edit]

If this article wants to be a Featured Article someday, it should replace OnlineWorldofWrestling sources with something better. That place is basically a Wiki these past few years, and it shows. But they're better than nothing, until that something better comes along. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:45, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Murder Charges

[edit]

Given that Snuka has just formally been charged with murder, perhaps it's time to template this for ongoing events? --BRPierce (talk) 01:10, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Noting that WWE has taken down his profile in response to the charges would also be good. Seems we have already substituted archives. Ranze (talk) 22:29, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Coconut Chaos nickname

[edit]

Does anyone remember seeing "Coconut Chaos" underneath his name on one of his WWE.com profile incarnations?

I saw it, was about to add it, but when I for some reason went back to double-check the Wayback Archive page I was using as a source, it was gone.

Now I'm thinking I might have hallucinated this or something... but in case I'm not, anyone up to checking through the archives and seeing if I'm right, if "Coconut Chaos" was used as a subtitle on his site profile and link to the source we can use as a nickname?

Sometimes minor URL variations cause weirdness in which archive date it will go back to so I might have skipped over it and confused HTTP with HTTPS or something. Ranze (talk) 22:29, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why did someone add murderer to his wiki?

[edit]

If he's classified as a murderer and the IP wants to add it then they'd have to add the same thing to Benoits Wiki page. 50.121.22.5 (talk) 15:34, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka and California Championship Wrestling

[edit]

During the 1980s I used to watch Jimmy Snuka in a taped promotion called California Championship Wrestling. He did a number of their shows. Why is there no mention of this in the article? 2600:1700:4260:35D0:2C5D:CF85:EB50:51C5 (talk) 05:04, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
