[edit]Why the Anglicised name? The poor chap was French (Jean Algrin d'Abbeville) and wrote almost exclusively in Latin (Iohannes Halgrinus de Abbatisvilla). The fact that Abbeville may have been under 'English' Domination won't wash, either, since the language of the 'English' court was French (I've no idea whether the English controlled Abbeville at the time, btw). I know of no authoritative twentieth-century writers who refer to him with an Anglicised name. Hostiensis (talk) 15:25, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- The anglicized name is whacked. Nobody refers to him thusly. Jean is the given name most in use.98.243.51.84 (talk) 03:40, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
