OT Expert

[edit]

Perhaps from this article, or somewhere else, it would be good to work in the fact that Sailhamer is acknowledged as one of the foremost evangelical scholars on Moses and the Pentateuch. For instance, "His knowledge concerning the Old Testament is quite ferocious." Ἀλήθεια 22:24, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On Creation

[edit]

See for instance, Jordan, James B. (April 1997) John Sailhamer Weighs In (I), Biblical Chronology, Vol. IX, No. 4 - "In brief, Sailhamer proposes that Genesis 1:1 tells us that God created the heavens and the earth at some time in the past. We don't know when, and it might have been millions or billions of years ago. Then Genesis 1 continues by telling us that in the recent past, God spent six literal 24-hour days working miracles to prepare the land of Eden and its garden for Adam and Eve to live in. Thus, Sailhamer's thesis offers a new and interesting resolution of the conflict between modern science and Biblical revelation." Or, this graduate paper for another quick read. Isn't that just Gap Theory? StAnselm (talk) 00:39, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is - it can't really be called a contribution, as it provides nothing new.PiCo (talk) 00:18, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
