"Whitewash"?
[edit]In 11 August, I revised an article about Julian Eden, a doctor, a broadcaster, an internet businessman and a SCUBA and dive advocate. In 2009, Eden was deregistered by the GMC - this was mentioned in my edit.
On the 17th, Interrapax an edit to my article which, in the History page, he called a 'whitewash'. I have had to recast his edits for the following reasons:
- Eden is a living subject.
- His deregistration is currently the subject of an ongoing appeal case in the UK High Court.
Wikipedia has precise guidelines regarding contentious issues, especially if they are potentially defamatory and the subject of ongoing legal processes.
I have NOT cut Interrapax's edits. I have simply trimmed just two of them to avoid repetition and to respect the Wiki guidelines outlined above. I hope this will satisfy him. Hubertgrove (talk) 21:03, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hubertgrove, my main concern (and the reason that I used the term "Whitewash") was that the deregistration- which is a very important issue was removed from the lede and reduced to barely half a sentence in the text. Now when I originally came to this page and made the first edits I found a load of badly written CV type stuff. So the first thing I did was a google search for Jules Eden. The majority of hits came back as articles in response to his deregistration. By removing the mention of this issue to this degree, and simply saying that his practive was "controversial" it appears to be minimising what is a highly notable issue for this individual. In fact, without the coverage of his deregistration I would seriously question whether or not he meets the notability criteria for Wikipedia. I understand that yes, BLP applies, however I do not believe that it is fair coverage of the issue to minimise it to such a degree. If you want I'm happy to take this to BLP noticeboard for outside input. Interrapax (talk) 08:18, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
