NPOV??

[edit]

she did NOT JAIR A COMERICAL ABOUT KERRY HEALY It's all about how she's a great, rising star and how she is going to be off to greatness. Anyone who loves in Mass. can tell you that this is not true, that Romney and her won't seek reelection because they can't win it, and that Tom Reilly would beat her in a gubernatorial election.

Reply:This is not true, because anyone who lives in Massachusetts can also tell you that they thought Democratic State Treasurer Shannon O'Brien was going to beat Romney, but that didn't turn out right then did it? Healey tends to sound much more forceful than Reilly and has her strong points as an advocate for criminal justice.

The O'Brein/Romney race was incredibly close, last time I checked. At the end of the day, O'Brien's inability to answer the charges against her, along with Romney's fame, contributed to that. Healey's not nearly as famous as Romney, unless Romney were to resign and Healey take over, giving her some time in the office... Though polling shows a massive butt-whupping on the part of Reilly, who knows what will happen in a Reilly/Healey race, or a Deval Patrick/Healey race. Honestly, I'd like to see Reilly or Patrick kick some Healey butt, and then have the country realize how much of a madman Romney is, but that's why I'm not editing this page. Jlove1982 18:07, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Response: Actually, as much as I dislike Romney, I think Healey is incredibly capable of being Governor and would do much! better than Romney. She barely has any positions in common with him...pro-choice, pro gay civil unions, she's a little different...I'll do all that I can to help her win - I personally think Reilly will win the primaries (obviously) and I just get an odd feeling about that guy, and I don't want him to have any more power than he already does.

Hi, this is Mathias Schindler, I am a Wikipedian from Frankfurt, Germany. I do see some NPOV concerns here and I have marked the article with a NPOV dispute template. A journalist from a Boston newspaper was pointing this out to me. Thanks for helping in improving the article. -- 84.176.249.108 17:40, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mathias... actually, it looks like the new version is much more neutral, now that a lot of what had been complained about was taken out. I'll leave it up to you and others who have more time and info to make the necessary fixes and take it down though. Jlove1982 18:49, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This article is rather jarring when compared to Kerry Healey's opponent, Deval Patrick. Go ahead and read Patrick's article and re-read Healey's. Patrick's article is about him, what he has done in his life and the criticisms levied against him. Healey's article is about Patrick and her (commonly considered attack) ads over her opponents. (Full disclosure: I'm a Patrick supporter, Massachusetts registered Democrat, which is rarer than you think) Now my problem is that I don't know much about Kerry Healey. I came to this add to find out more about her life and what she has done that could be noteworthy. Something to make an intelligent political debate about the Governor's race a well-balanced discussion. In the end, this article ends out being exactly what my current Governor discussions are. Patrick is a good man who has done good things, while Healey is the Lt. Gov under "Uncle Mitt" Romney and all she does is run attack ads. Who is Kerry Healey? This article fails Wikipedia on the basest level. Her opening paragraph is lifted verbatim from one of Healey's television ads. This article isn't about Kerry Healey, it's about Deval Patrick and that is an absolute shame. If anything, it should be scrapped and re-written. CritCol 14:14, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No offense, but pretty much anything of value that Healey has accomplished is on the bio, she doesn't have much experience besides being the Lt. Governor, she is a theorist of criminology, that's about it.

Regardless of her political accomplishments, the article on Deval Patrick at least contains a section on his "Political Views." As insightful as it is to look for a political candidate's beliefs on the issues and find nothing... I'm sure the article could contain more. :) - Varuka 00:47, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{POV}}

There is next to no criticism of Kerry Healey and her unfavorable position with many voters in the state of MA. Also the Gabrieli ad is mentioned with no references of attacks on all candidates, her disrespect of third party candidates "Deval and I are the only ones who will win", and her new ad claiming the Democratic nominee supports cop killers. This is not bias, this is factual.

The controversy section of this entry is just a copy and paste of the criticisms part of the deval patrick entry. I see no reason why they should be included in both sections. In fact these controversies have nothing to do with a biography of Kerry Healey and should be removed from this entry. Micklemoose 00:46, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-- No, it wasn't actually. The articles were very similiar presenting different POV. If you deleted them, thanks for screwing up the page.

email contacts needed

[edit]

If there are email addresses for Healey, as an official and/or as a candidate for Gov, please add them to the main article. 69.87.193.134 12:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

inclusion of "Kerry Healey Out of Touch"

[edit]

I added this site to the external links because I thought there should be some representation of the anti-Healey point of view there as part of NPOV. I thought it was more neutral to say "a blog opposing her candidacy" rather than the site's name.

"J.sweeton@wnri.com" then removed the link, referring to the "External Links" style page where it says that blogs should generally not appear in external links unless "the article is about the website itself" or "the website is of a particularly high standard". Judging the standard of KHooT may be a partisan issue, but it is a well-maintained summary of anti-Healey news events and currently appears fifth on a Google search for "Kerry Healey", ahead of any other site, arguing for its importance.

The problem with linking to "her opponents campaign site" is that she currently has five opponents, as the article says.

I have restored the link, calling it a "political website" (like Kos or Eschaton) rather than a "blog" 71.232.101.250 00:16, 12 July 2006 (UTC) David Mix Barrington[reply]

her religion

[edit]

I noticed that in her infobox, it says that she is Episcopalian, but yet she is in the category "Roman Catholic Politicians" does anybody know which relgion she really is? Undertaker2134 05:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to this Boston Globe article from 11 Dec 2005, she was born and baptized as a Catholic, raised between both churches (her mother was Episcopalian) and now practices the Episcopal faith exclusively: <http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2005/12/11/healey_quietly_labors_to_polish_an_image/>. My quick search didn't turn up that category, but if you know it please remove her.

Inclusion of Criticisms

[edit]

There has been some repeated deletion and insertion of the Kerry Healey "Criticisms" section. In the spirit of objectivity, I think that this needs to be included. Deval Patrick's, even Christy Mihos's page contains references to criticisms on their campaign. However, the wording of such criticism should be objective and not simply declamatory. If you feel like criticisms should be objective, include a counter-argument within the section. Don't simply unilaterally remove it.

NPOV 2012

[edit]

This article is now unbalanced towards criticism and does not follow the guidelines for BLP. Superfluous information in this section should be removed and a current work section added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wordywordler (talkcontribs) 05:21, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
