Hepatitis A outbreak

[edit]

I am making a comment here on the recent addition of a large amount of information on the Hepatitis A outbreak that occurred in San Diego, largely amongst the homeless population, under Faulconer's leadership. I do not dispute that it has a valid place on the page, but I do think that it interferes somewhat with the flow of the Homelessness paragraph. For this reason, I am proposing that it be given its own subsection. What are everyone's thoughts? (Additionally: It seems like this has been added in order to provide something negative about Faulconer as he gears up for his gubernatorial run, which then leads to my additional idea that the entire page be swept for bias, positive or negative. It is important to remember that this will be a major candidate and that his team will likely come through to make his accomplishments look grander, while opponents will try to emphasize his weaknesses. What are everyone's thoughts on this, especially in relation to Hepatitis A, as well?) PickleG13 (talk) 02:21, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have split up the two sections, which should both add increased emphasis to the epidemic and will also make reading the article easier. POV problems still stand with certain parts of the article, but I have tried to remove them in a way that increases accuracy and minimizes bias. PickleG13 (talk) 02:34, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Statewide political career"

[edit]

It seems that "Statewide political career" is a very broad category that does not reflect specifically what is included. This section exists for the purposes of describing Faulconer's run in the 2022 gubernatorial election or the hypothetical 2021 recall election. It does not describe any other aspects of his career; therefore, I propose we retitle the section "California gubernatorial run" or something along those lines. This will save a great deal of space on the page, which has slowly but surely got longer over time. PickleG13 (talk) 21:33, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Main photo

[edit]

There have been back-and-forth edits as to whether or not the 2021 portrait of Faulconer should be the photo for the page, or if it should be the cropped image of him with President Trump. It is my opinion, and I had thought consensus, that a free-to-license image that is not cropped is a better choice for politicians. However, some may disagree. This discussion is also relevant to pages including that of Faulconer's gubernatorial opponent John H. Cox. On that page too there has been an edit war as to whether a cropped photo or a portrait would be better. What are everyone's thoughts? What precedent are these thoughts based on? Thanks! PickleG13 (talk) 23:09, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the current image for a very simple reason: the image is not free and the user who uploaded it did not indicate the license. On the website where the image came from, it is mentioned that it's subject to copyright.--LuisZ9 (talk) 03:47, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The main photo should be File:Kevin Faulconer 2021.jpg. Iamreallygoodatcheckers (talk) 21:26, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Approval ratings" POV and Expand

[edit]

Hi y'all! This is simply to note the purpose of the POV tag is relevant to the expansion one, as to keep Wikipedia nonbiased. Let us try to find more approval ratings data, rather than just an editorial board's thoughts. I believe there is absolutely a purpose for this section of the page, which is why I suggested its creation, but it is not sufficient at present. I am again being clear that the POV tag has nothing to do with my fellow editors, as a POV tag can sometimes imply that. Let's try to find some approval ratings. Yay!
