Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training

[edit]

It states he is a black belt in BJJ but I do not believe this is true. I know that at UFC 3 he was introduced as having a black belt in TKD, but this was never confirmed. Also, the announcers at UFC 3 states his style was "freestyle Jiu-Jitsu". There is no such thing as freestyle Jiu-Jitsu, and I don't think Kimo has a black belt in BJJ. If anyone can prove me wrong then post a link or sourse proving he does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.176.6.178 (talk) 05:38, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

Im noticing a clash in his nationality there anyone know where hes really from? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.169.12.125 (talk) 14:05, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Brian Johnston

[edit]

Please stop linking the Brian Johnston on this page to the Cricket commentator of the same name. Kimo did not dig up an old man's dead body and fight it in the ring. The Brian Johnston he fought is the amateur kickboxing champion and New Japan Pro Wrestling star.

Sakuraba

[edit]

The Sakuraba fight wasn't a work. A work is a fight in which both fighters are aware of the expected outcome and work toward it. Since Kimo was unaware it was actually a case of Sakuraba carrying him and then throwing the fight.

Missed fight?

[edit]

Kimo fought and loss to Bob Sapp back in 2003 in a K-1 match. Link to Bob Sapp to see where it should be put. [mpa|mpa] July 25, 2007 3:25pm EST

Death?

[edit]

I heard some reports that Kimo is dead, Can somebody confirm this? = Joe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.107.88.158 (talk) 14:05, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a rumour, but no reliable news outlets have confirmed it yet. --aktsu (t / c) 14:15, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, pro wrestling/MMA news site gerweck.net is reporting it: http://www.gerweck.net/news/1248185056.shtml Ryziun (talk) 14:18, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was originally posted on the MMA.tv forums. A lot of blogs etc. are reposting it, but no reliable sources have been able to confirm it -- hence why it's being removed from the article. --aktsu (t / c) 14:21, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

it's reported here

Not sure if you noticed but nydailynews cannot possibly be considered a credible source in this case, they state specifically in the article "according to several unconfirmed internet reports". I happened to be on the UG last night when OMA (aka Reggie Warren Sr) created the original thread that started the whole thing. I can't believe how many news sources took his thread as truth and reported on it. I can guarantee you Kimo is alive and well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.148.22 (talk) 20:27, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP should not be declaring someone dead with zero actual confirmation. This is embarassing and a prime example of why many consider WP to be a worthless source of information. And even more hilarious, I can't fix the page because it's "protected". GG editor who locked the page! You locked in a completely fake death! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.148.22 (talk) 20:36, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, since apparently any website publishing anything can be cited as fact here, here's an article pointing out that he is NOT DEAD:

http://www.fightersonlymagazine.co.uk/news/viewarticle.php?id=2781

And as a bonus here's a link to Kevin Iole's twitter, also pointing out that KIMO IS NOT DEAD:

http://twitter.com/kevini

can we change it back now? And can the editor that locked in his death never be allowed to do that again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.20.148.22 (talk) 20:44, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, here's a link to the original thread by Reggie Warren Sr (AKA OMA) that started it all last night:

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=forum.posts&forum=28&thread=1493324&page=10

It's now been moved to the "What If?" forum, lol.24.20.148.22 (talk) 21:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And just to end this little fiasco for good, Iole has confirmed with Kimo's lawyer that Kimo is indeed alive.

Man I am all over this talk page.24.20.148.22 (talk) 21:35, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One last link, since this one lays out an experience identical to the one I had after OMA made his (now legendary) post:

24.20.148.22 (talk) 21:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reggie Warren Sr (aka Beau Taylor, AKA OMA) just got banned from the UG for making this shit up. justice is served! Hexrei2 (talk) 22:44, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

btw all the above posts after the nydaily link are me, hexrei2.Hexrei2 (talk) 22:37, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ONE LAST LINK :) Kimo proves he's still alive http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AlEq7oXyRBxocaOZo3PfRLg9Eo14?slug=ki-kimo072109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hexrei2 (talkcontribs) 02:10, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I started a nice little conversation now didnt I? =Joe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.107.86.4 (talk) 20:22, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have a problem with the following statement: "Kimo gave Gracie his toughest fight to date..."

[edit]

According to whom? "To Date" being when, exactly? Aside from the fact that I can think of at least one other fight that might've been "tougher", it's also a subjective statement credited to no-one.

Can someone justify it or take it out, please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.240.83.3 (talk) 18:08, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
