Pronunciation

[edit]

The source for the pronunciation doesn’t use IPA and the system it uses doesn't distinguish between long and short vowels. The source was clearly written for people who know Swedish and assume the reader to have knowledge of Swedish, and anyone with any knowledge of Swedish would interpret the pronunciation with a d as being the same pronunciation as the word "stad", i.e. [-ɑːd]. No-one would ever say [-ad] unless it's a slip of tongue. Unstressed vowels are usually short in Swedish, but an exception is when a monosyllabic word with a long vowel appears unstressed at the end of a longer word, e.g. in the names of the days of the week (which can be pronounced either [-dɑːg] or [-da]). I haven't been able to find any source that gives the pronunciation with a d in IPA, presumably because it's much less common than the pronunciation without a d. Either you take the word of people who know Swedish (feel free to ask other Swedish speakers) that this is the correct interpretation of the source, or the pronunciation with a d will be excluded altogether, since it can't be verified what this pronunciation is, and only the more common pronunciation without a d will be included. Either is fine with me, as long as a non-existent pronunciation based on a misinterpretation of a source isn't included. BlueSwede92 (talk) 15:06, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial boom?

[edit]

The phrase in the initial section about some '15-year' development ought to be erased. Utterly untraceable a statement, including Swedish government (with municipal section) data bases and Statistiska Centralbyrån (Swedish government agency for statistic research and legitimacy). Delete it.
