Translation of “Ista quidem vis est!”

Why is the word “quidem” translated “Why” or “But”? Does it not mean something more like “certainly”? I am not confident that I understand the statement better than the original author enough to edit the article, but I am not sure that the original author was correct either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.5.197.184 (talk) 07:02, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
