This article should be renamed "The Catalans". It seems that the British media decided not to translate the name announced by the club. But I wrote to the club asking why they didn't call the team "Els Catalans" (since this is the masculine plural in Catalan, and "les" is feminine in Catalan), and they replied that, since the announcement was made in French, they gave the French name, but that obviously in Catalonia they will become known as "Els Catalans" and in the English-speaking world as "The Catalans". They added that it was precisely for this reason that no article appears in the club logo.
If nobody objects, I will change the name of the article and create a redirect.
- Oppose. Most of the British press I have seen says "Les Catalans". Hold back on a move until they actually start playing in SL, then we can see how they are referred to in match reports, TV listing etc. Grinner 10:56, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Recently they seem to be refered to as 'Catalans Dragons' even though this is ungrammatical in French, English and Catalan.GordyB 00:06, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
The "UTC" in the Club column of the player table points to Universal_Coordinated_ Time. I presume this is a mistake. :-) Ordinary Person 23:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Also, the "Mark Hughes" link points to the article on Mark Hughes the Welsh soccer player. Ordinary Person 23:53, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Move planned
[edit]I haven't seen "Les Catalans" used in a long time, it is always "Catalans Dragons". I plan to move this page to Catalans Dragons and replace this page with a redirect.GordyB 23:02, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
