Yes, he is still alive. I have spoken with his relatives. --Polylerus (talk) 21:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC) Sadly, he passed away this morning. I will change the info on the page once I have sources to cite. Names of grandchildren and great-grandchildren sent over by relatives. --Polylerus (talk) 23:17, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He died on december, 19, 2009. See this Brazilian site: [JB] , in Portuguese.Agre22 (talk) 21:50, 21 December 2009 (UTC)agre22[reply]

More than the coup in Brazil

[edit]

There were 2 years past the coup when Gordon was in Brazil. This article should seek to say more about what he did beyond the context of the coup. I also have doubts that the quote from Johnson about Gordon's service in Brazil needs to be in the text.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:23, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

University president

[edit]

University president tenure

[edit]

I strongly suspect we could have a much better section on Gordon's time as university president that gives a fuller assessment of his actions and leadership as president. The current section focuses too much on a few issues and not enough on the full span of what occured under his leadership.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:12, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This asshole had blood on his hands by supporting the coup against democratically elected President Joao Goulart. 2603:8081:4500:169E:E0CD:2D34:2FAA:3E80 (talk) 03:50, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
