External links?

[edit]

Why are all the names on this page externally linked to Twitch? Delta fiver (talk) (UTC) 11:31, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removed per WP:EXT. - Brojam (talk) 23:10, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see nothing wrong with that, it's useful information, why do you think it's wrong? (maybe I don't know much about Wikipedia rules) - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 02:16, 26 August 2020 (UTC+2)

Please see WP:Indent. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:14, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Searching "Ranboo" redirects to this article even though he isn't on the list. Are there obsolete redirects to this article? 173.95.166.6 (talk) 22:38, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should banned accounts be removed from the list?

[edit]

Should banned accounts be quickly removed from the list before the referenced information has been changed? Are there reasons for removal or would it be better just to reflect the data. - Amarkula (talk) 03:53, 28 June 2020 (UTC+3)

Countries column?

[edit]

I saw that some days ago someone called 'Emir of Wikipedia' deleted all the country columns without any explanation. I think it is relevant and interesting info so I wrote it again. It's my first time editing Wikipedia and I forgot I had to tell it here first, sorry. But I think it's OK now. - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 02:25, 26 August 2020 (UTC+2)

I too have noticed these odd edits as well, but don't worry, you made the right decision adding them back in. Also you don't need to provide an explanation here on the talk page always, unless it's controversial of-course, however, if you want to provide an explanation, do so in the edit summary bar, right before submitting your edits. Best of luck on your editing! Delta fiver (talk) (UTC) 07:44, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, mate! - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 17:35, 26 August 2020 (UTC+2)

Please can Emir of Wikipedia stop deleting useful content as the country list? - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 19:57, 15 May 2020 (UTC+2)

Replace Brand Account column?

[edit]

I propose changing the Brand Account column to a more general notes column. This can include "Brand account", but also things like more information on Streamers that are no longer active which is currently in a Notes section below the list. Including former exclusivity contracts for Shroud, Ninja and others might also make sense. I just think currently its wasting a lot of space for a total of three green checkmarks. jonas (talk) 05:38, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Change "Spain" to "Andorra", in "Rubius" and "TheGrefg" Country.

The streamer Rubius and TheGrefg have Andorra as their official residence. It is no mystery, any follower of his knows it because they have said and shown it several times. The table names the "Country" not the community they support. The current page is disinformation. M7pxn (talk) 01:18, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Melmann 17:26, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the country list is about their nationalities, not where they live. - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 20:02, 15 May 2020 (UTC+2)

Bot followers

[edit]

Should us editors be making judgements over whether channels have gained bot followers and shouldn’t be included? Seems to be going in the direction of original research to me. SK2242 (talk) 21:06, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unknown names?

[edit]

If someone in the Top 50 list hasn't revealed their real name and it isn't public knowledge, should we keep the name section blank or put a symbol such as a dashed line in that field? Kmau1l15 (talk) 22:54, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

== Unsourced country data ==

User Emir of Wikipedia is deleting useful content as the country list every time other user updates it. He has no right to do this, neither a real reason. It just makes this page less visual, too simple and worse. Can someone tell him to stop? What can we do about it? - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 02:06, 30 May 2020 (UTC+2)

Please read WP:VANDALISM before accusing people of that. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 19:12, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just stop deleting others users' edits as the country list every time other user updates it. It's useful and correct data. - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 02:00, 10 June 2020 (UTC+2)

It is unsourced and please read WP:Indent. ----Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 22:04, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please people report him and you don't have to source a nationality just like you dont have to source any of the other data (like owner or category) or it would have to be deleted too. Cristiansr 99 (talk) 21:11, 7 March 2022 (UTC+2)

Who do you want to report? Please see WP:Indent to help your conversations flow correctly. We do have to source data though. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:13, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Emir of Wikipedia you can verify the nationality on their own Wikipedia pages of the Twitch creators and also around the web, so I think is not necessary to add a source just as it's not on the other columns. If you think it is so necessary do it yourself instead of deleting other's people work and turning the page into something too simple - Cristiansr 99 (talk) 21:17, 08 March 2022 (UTC+2)

I have responded to this already on your talkpage have I not? Also please remember WP:Indent. --Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:24, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's something about this page, so it has to be here too. Cristiansr 99 (talk) 21:26, 08 March 2022 (UTC+2)

What are you talking about? Please follow WP:Indent so we can speak properly with each other. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:29, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Emir of Wikipedia, the article contains the sources for the country that the each streamer has streamed from for any significant period of time. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 00:35, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

where’s ironmouse

[edit]

where’s ironmouse
she’s the most subbed twitch streamer so she should be on the list — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.223.146.37 (talkcontribs) 14:06, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This list is for most followed channels, not most subscribers (which are paid for). The streamer at number 50 on this list has 4.1 million followers. Ironmouse only has 1.5 million followers. She had even less when you asked this in July 2022. She's also now no longer in the top-20 most subscribed-to channels. Ss112 13:05, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Countries column (second time)

[edit]

Hey @Emir of Wikipedia, I've added back the Countries column to the article. Sorry if you missed the last message I posted about it yesterday I guess I put it in the wrong section of this talk page. Is there any reason you feel it needs to be removed? The sources in the article support them and often have a quote to point out where in the source it supports the country. This is also a common practice in other similar lists like List of most-subscribed YouTube channels. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 23:42, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If there is a problem with other articles we can go and fix them, it does not mean to ruin this one for consistency. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 19:05, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted because the edits add context to the streamers. Dr vulpes (💬📝) 08:28, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why is that context pertinent to the list though? You could do age or gender or content language or something like that for "context". This is not some so sports or politics article where the countries are that important to a list. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 20:32, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Isn’t the dynamic list template supposed to be at the top?

[edit]

Or am I missing something? I’ve only ever seen it at the top, but there might be some obscure policy I don’t know about.

Thanks, Shadestar474 (talk) 03:47, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Language column?

[edit]

I know that the addition of a countries column has been the subject of controversy, with the most significant issue being that it's not specifically relevant to the account and its followers. That said, I do believe that including each channel's primary language is relevant, or at least as relevant as the "Streamed categories" column that it already there. Just looking at the page for the top streams [1], the two things that it shows for every single streamer is the game that they're playing (or other category) as well as the language. Selecting a streamer's language is also one of the easily-available settings when searching for streams, which similar video sites like YouTube and TikTok don't have. Additionally, unlike the streamers' countries, which may be subject to speculation and external reporting, their primary streaming language is clearly displayed as part of the stream pages themselves in the form of tags. Oftentimes, the language will be the only tag on a given stream. I hope that you all will consider this proposal as relevant context for the list, and that it will hopefully be a good middle ground on the countries controversy.
