[edit]Hey the title is wrong: Basilicata is not a province but a region composed of two provinces: Matera and Potenza
- The title has been corrected. Cattus talk 19:56, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Names
[edit]At some point someone needs to organise these kinds of lists - perhaps it would make more sense to split into separate lists for Matera and Potenza? Plus names need synchronising - we have Comuni of the Province of Potenza for instance. And then that's before you start playing with the format of the list, the Potenza list is quite nicely laid out. FlagSteward (talk) 18:43, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was Move. I only did this one. Others can move the rest if applicable. —Wknight94 (talk) 17:02, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Move request
[edit]Comuni of the Region of Basilicata → Communes of the Region of Basilicata. The English word is communes; that's why the text uses it. This is the only member of this category to be so called. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:05, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
Survey
[edit]- Support as nom. Other categories can be adjusted by bulk moves. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:05, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Sebisthlm (talk) 18:36, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support this move per WP:UE and support the move of all but one of the articles in Category:Comuni of Italy which currently use the Italian. — AjaxSmack 19:27, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose for now, move discussion. This rename is premature in the light of attempts to thrash this out at Project level (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Italy#I say comuni, you say communes and various other Talk pages such as Talk:Comune). It's not at all clear that "Commune" is the most appropriate word to use in English - municipality makes for a better translation, and is used in the main Municipalities of Italy article, whereas "comuni" is often used in English discussions of Italy as being more accurate, in the same way that département is used in discussions of France. As mentioned above, this article currently fits the format used by all but one of the province articles, so it makes sense to work this out for everything at a Project level and then apply it to individual articles. For the record, I think commune is the worst of the "obvious" words to use, but would obviously prefer consistency over anything else. FlagSteward (talk) 15:31, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Support. --EH101 (talk) 15:32, 1 March 2008 (UTC) Anyway, I suggest to rename to Communes of the provinces of Basilicata
- Support. The debate on what to call comuni / communes / municipalities at WP:ITALY fizzled out—as indeed it always has in the past, in various backwaters of Wikipedia talk pages. I would support the move now, not on the basis of a preference for communes over comuni—although that is my preference—, but for reasons of tidyness. Categories with muddled naming conventions are a little confusing and look terribly unprofessional. —Ian Spackman (talk) 09:03, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Comuni of the Province of Agrigento which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 07:47, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
