I was surprised to find "Composers" and "DJs" in this list but I assume they are also musical performers as well? Also note that some people are listed multiple times due to the structure of this list. I know next to nothing about this genre but found it all a little confusing. Perhaps prune it to a simple alphabetical list and/or put the field in parenthesis after the name? Cleanr 00:18, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree that it is confusing. Another thing that seriously brings it down is the vast number of red links. I think these should be pruned somewhat, at the moment this list is highly vulnerable to hoax/vandalism, or at least good faith inclusion of non-notable stuff. Incorrect inclusions and incomplete articles

[edit]

There are a number of bands and artists listed here that aren't referred to elsewhere as "smooth jazz." I have only looked through the bands and vocalists. Some of these bands are probably smooth jazz, but it isn't in their articles. Personally, I think it's a problem when the lists say things that the articles do not. Most likely, either the article itself is missing the information it needs, or the artist shouldn't be here.

I didn't do anything other than catalog this and fix a few links. This is partially because I would probably get a number of things wrong. It is also partially because mass edits and removals by a new user are probably going to be treated with suspicion. Hopefully some other users will take interest here. I may have missed some things; some of these articles may well contain a mention of smooth jazz. I have also skipped over some artists and bands for now. BecauseWhy? Guitarists

list below moved from original article - casting doubt is Ok but not in article itself silpol (talk) 09:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • George Benson ( Are the cti albums smmooth jazz ?? really ?? )
  • Larry Carlton ( Are the live albums and blues ones smooth records ??? be more precise pleaase ??)
  • Kevin Eubanks ( Is Sundance a smooth jazz Record ?? don't think so be more precise please ???)
  • Chuck Loeb ( nowadays don't think the dmp period to be smooth jazz )
This list doesn't represent the entire careers of all the listed musicians, so they still should be included. George Benson and Larry Carlton especially. ANDROS1337 22:40, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

John Coltrane?

[edit]

Although John Coltrane (recent entry) is certainly a jazz legend, isn't he more traditional or mainstream jazz, rather than "smooth jazz"? -- Bwefler (talk) 17:24, 22 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed him from the list. ANDROS1337TALK 19:58, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Smoothjazz artist

[edit]

Hello, as a Grammy Award Pre-Nominated Contemporary Jazz Best Album 2007, I think Rocco Ventrella saxophonist should be added in Smoothjazz Artists list. He shared stage with so great smoothjazz artists. Ventrellaro (talk) 09:11, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Undiscussed removals

[edit]

There seems to be a serious problem with undiscussed removals of artists. Users seem to be ignoring the comments at the top of each section. I don't think it is enough to warrant semi-protection, but I think something should be done about it considering the comments are ineffective. I think users should have a good reason why an artist should not be included, such as with reliable sources. ANDROS1337TALK 17:51, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
