Coordinates

[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

Please note that the coordinates in this article need fixing as: I'm not sure exactly how to fix this, but the dot doesn't seem to fall within Panola county.

I can't figure out why the pushpin shows up over in Rusk County, but the coordinates appear to be correct as they stand. Deor (talk) 02:28, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the {{geodata-check}} tag since the problem does not seem to be with the coordinates, but with the {{infobox settlement}} template. I'll put a note on that template's talk page pointing to this discussion, maybe someone there can help. (I'm just a coordinates guy, don't know nuthin about template programming...) Good luck. I believe the problem is with the coordinates used in {{Location map Texas}}. Whenever you try to flatten a large map, there is always some skewing. If you look at Deadwood, Texas, it is showing up almost at the western border of the county, when it should be near the eastern border. I am hesitant to do too much tweaking to the coordinates in the Location map template for fear of screwing up locations elsewhere in the state. However, I will have a look in a bit to see if it's a more uniform problem with all locations on the Eastern side of the state. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 20:31, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
