Abdul Razak

[edit]

Is he really an academy graduate when it seems he hasn't played a single game for academy side? Utinsh (talk) 13:33, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The term "academy graduate" is applied to any player that comes into the City first team "through the ranks" rather than as a direct transfer from another club (such as Silva or Kolarov, etc.). Although for players such as Richards, Onuoha or SWP it normally takes playing a few years in the EDS and/or Academy before they finally break through to the first team, there is no rule that states it has to take that long. Razak did train with the EDS full time after he moved to MCFC from Crystal Palace last summer but just didn't happen to make his debut for the EDS until 3 days before he then made his first team debut. So he minimally qualifies as an "academy graduate" by the skin of his teeth. However, if we don't classify him as a graduate of the EDS then what do we classify him as? He is hardly in the same category as RSC or Dzeko. What I would be questioning more is his addition to the first team squad, yet that is what the OWS still states. IMO that seems quite peculiar for someone that has made so few appearances at the Academy and EDS level (i.e., only one at the time he was added to the first team squad, although he has since played another game for the EDS). Because there are many other EDS players that are more senior to him with a lot more match experience under their belts who one would have expected to be added to the first team squad before he was - such as Guidetti, Mee, Trippier or Tutte, etc. Mancini's Lasagne invite to Harry Talk 16:51, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trimming the list of Academy Graduates

[edit]

Do you think we should trim the table of graduates on this page to only those have a 1st team start after 2005 instead of 1998. As the list gets longer it takes more time to ensure all the current clubs of the older players remain up to date. Could we just list the earlier debutees without the current club details ? Fair use rationale for File:Manchester City FC badge.svg

[edit]

File:Manchester City FC badge.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Sources for squad placings

[edit]

Can I please request the source that states that Unal and Ntcham are to be regarded as first teamers despite never playing for the first team and being listed as EDS players; that states that Davenport, Patching and Kigbu are to be regarded as Academy players despite being listed as EDS players, and that Faour is apparently not to be listed on this page at all?

As far as I am concerned, the mancity.com website should be used as our most direct source for the listing of players. OZOO 21:56, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adrián Bernabé

[edit]

Should Adrián Bernabé be added to this list? He made his debut off the bench at Oxford in the EFL Cup. He signed his first professional contract at City, and is a regular in City's Youth Teams and EDS. I know he came through the Barcelona Youth Set up as a kid, but most of the people on this list also spent time at other clubs before turning professional. Thoughts?
