A couple of points:

  • "The old Manors station was closed on January 23, 1978, to allow for the construction of the Tyne and Wear Metro. This new station has two platforms in an underground tunnel, which opened on November 14, 1982."
  • "Only a small number of main line services stop at Manors... All Tyne and Wear Metro services currently make a stop at the station, however."

In case it needs pointing out, the Manors station on the Tyne and Wear Metro is a completely separate station to the original British Rail/Northern Spirit/Arriva/Northern Rail Manors station. With this in mind, was main line service (e.g. Central - Manors -> Chathill) ever suspended during Metro construction?

Also:

  • "From 1904 until 1964, the lines through the station were electrified: this was with both third-rail and overhead electrification. The East Coast Main Line was subsequently re-electrified in 1990."

As I understand it, the mainline track through Manors (or the ECML as a whole) did not have any sort of overhead electrification until the late 1980s/early 1990s. AdorableRuffian 01:26, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I realise now that the original OHLE through Manors was for the Quayside branch! AdorableRuffian 23:22, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggest renaming this "Manors Station". As a name it deserves two capital letters JMcC 17:45, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In view of the above comments I have created a new Manors Metro stati article and removed some Metro specific info from this page DrFrench 00:09, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
