Connected contributor template on the article
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello. Thank you Onel5969 and alanyst for your feedback and for helping create this article. I'm wondering if anyone can move the connected contributor banner from the top of the article to the Talk page here? The template was included when I presented this article through AfC, and I think it should be moved to the Talk page now the article is live, in line with what I've seen elsewhere. Additionally, I'm wondering if alanyst could reconsider removing the Marsy's Law For All official website external link. This same external link is included in the Marsy's Law article and as the official website for the organization supporting the law, I'd argue it's relevant and should remain.
Lastly, the Similar laws in other states section in the California Marsy's Law article has a typo. It should say "amendment", not "ammendment". Is anyone able to fix? I will post on that Talk page as well. As you know, I have a financial conflict of interest: I work at Mac Strategies Group and am posting here as part of my work there on behalf of Marsy's Law For All, so I know I should not edit this article myself. Thank you. JulieMSG (talk) 15:25, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- I fixed the typo. As for the external link, I can see how it could be informative, but I am concerned that it may be perceived by readers as an effort to promote the Marsy's Law For All organization, either directly here or by boosting its search engine rating. I would prefer to solicit the input of other neutral editors to evaluate the link on its merits, and go with whatever consensus arises. I'll open a request for comments below. alanyst 18:49, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- This request is complete. Thank you, alanyst and Onel5969, for your help and discussions here. And thank you, alanyst, for reconsidering the Marsy's Law for All external link by way of the RFC below. I hope editors see the value of adding Marsy's Law for All to the external links section of the article. JulieMSG (talk) 22:08, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
RFC: External link to Marsy's Law For All website

Should the "External Links" section of this article contain a link to the official website for Marsy's Law For All, which promotes the legislation and is the sponsor of the disclosed COI contributor who drafted this article? alanyst 18:49, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- Probably not. What we need to do is to improve this article to read more like Marsy's Law, which is far better written. John Nagle (talk) 19:01, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
- No external link in the external link section because it is not directly relevant to the article topic, namely the "law" itself. Instead, directly write in the article about Marcy's Law receipt of efforts by the Marcy's Law for All group using the source material [1], [2], [3]. In the citation to the reference, you probably can work in an external link to the official website for 'Marsy's Law For All' without others editors getting too bent out of shape since "Marsy's Law For All" will be in the text of the "Marsy's Law" article and the external link it is directly relevant to the reference itself. Template:Citation contains a lot of parameters and you likely will find one where you can add the official website for Marsy's Law For All as part of the reference used for the Marsy's Law article. Also, while the topic Marsy Nicholas does not qualify for an article, the topic Murder/Death/Killing of Marsy Nicholas does qualify and you can include a subsection on Marsy's Law For All and one on the different Marsy's Laws around the country. Once Marsy's Law For All receives enough press coverage, then Marsy's Law For All can be spun out into its own article. -- Jreferee (talk) 18:15, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
