What is shown here as a Merkel cell isn't; Merkel cells are very much smaller and extremely hard to detect. The structure indicated is a pressure sensing organ, a Pacinian or Meissnerian corpuscule. Also, Merkel cells are located in the epidermis, not in the dermis. Bart (talk) 12:17, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
