emtansine
[edit]Is Mertansine (DM1) the same as emtansine - as in Trastuzumab emtansine, an antibody-drug conjugate for the treatment of HER2+ metastatic breast cancer. ? Rod57 (talk) 22:55, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- According to http://www.who.int/medicines/services/inn/RadicalBook2010.pdf, those are two different entities. Maybe the equation DM1=mertansine is wrong. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 08:13, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- OK, here's the solution: DM1 (probably called maytansine, but I haven't found a source yet) is the structure in File:Mertansine mab structure.svg up to the disulfide, and including one of the sulfur atoms. If it is linked to the MAB as in the mentioned image (disulfide bridge to an
aminopentanioc acid), the MAB is called "—mab mertansine". If it's linked as in http://www.who.int/medicines/services/inn/RadicalBook2010.pdf (p 63, a more complicated linker with 2 rings), the MAB is called "—mab emtansine" as in Trastuzumab emtansine. Will try to sort this out when I've got the time. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 10:57, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Could move to DM1
[edit]or Maytansinoid DM1 since Mertansine and emtansine only differ by a linker. Can describe the cytotoxic mechanism on this shared page ? - Rod57 (talk) 12:24, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Emtansine and Maytansinoid DM1 already redirect here, or am I missing something? I'll add a bit about mechanism, though. Thanks for the suggestion. --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 15:17, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
