I see. Wikipedia concerns itself with disambiguation for 'existing' articles. When the other page gets created, that's when further disambiguation is necessary. Until then, "Michael James (cricketer)" will do. Once the other page has been established, this simpler version should then be redirected to the dab page at "Mike James". And by the way, when you create an article that requires a dab, you should always add the article to the list at the disambiguation page; I've done that for this chap.
