Vacated games

[edit]

Contrary to what some believe, ALL Michigan games during the period of the Ed Martin scandal were vacated, not just victories. A total of 10 games in this series were vacated, during which Michigan went 7-3 against MSU. 108.254.160.23 (talk) 20:08, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Series start date

[edit]

@ByzantineIsRoman: Thank you for explaining your POV. I understand your point that there are two eras to the series. In similar cases, results from both eras are included in the rivalry page. See Michigan–Michigan State football rivalry, which includes results when Michigan State was not in the Big Ten Conference, and Michigan–Ohio State football rivalry, as Ohio State and Michigan played 14 times before the two were in the same conference. Even though back then the series probably wouldn't be considered a true "rivalry" during the early years, the complete results are notable and provide context to the series. In terms of the name change, the Egg Bowl between Mississippi State and Ole Miss includes both results and information from when Mississippi State went by the name "Mississippi A&M" in the early 1900s. The most reasonable compromise to me would be restoring the original information and then add in a few sentences describing the differences between the two eras. What are your thoughts on this? @ByzantineIsRoman: The compromise looks good, thank you for your cooperation and happy editing! Cheers B1GLAX2 (talk) 17:01, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I would like to address disputed content here on the talk page. I was disputing the start date of the series with a fellow editor, and it led to an edit war. Because of it, the page was locked down. I had an idea I would like to share for a compromise, how about we restore the page to the way it was on March 21 prior to the edits that took place on March 27? I feel like listing the fact that Michigan leads the non-conference series and Michigan State leads the conference series would satisfy both sides. Me and another editor had previously agreed on this and reached a compromised, and the page was functioning like normal until the edits took place on March 27. Let's compromise? Thanks - ByzantineIsRoman
